Coronavirus and me Chapter one: The beginning It all began on November 2019 everyone was waiting for Christmas and 2020. But the world thought that 2020 would bring good things but no it brought bad things, by the time you are reading this story it could be all over and everything back to normal but I don't know that I can't tell the future. It was finally December and everyone was putting up their trees and decorating their houses with lights and ornaments. Sometime close to Christmas the news was telling us that there was a new virus found in China called the coronavirus, at first, we all thought it would stay there and we would get a vaccine soon but no we didn't. No one was worrying about it yet, still everyone got on with their daily lives while the virus got bigger in China. Soon the people in China started travelling for the Christmas holidays with the virus then that's how it started to spread. Now we were in January and then started worrying about the virus in some European countries. Now at this point some countries were giving daily news reports of new cases found or sometimes deaths. Then 2 weeks into January Australia and the US got the virus now things were getting really bad. Some countries were still going to school and work and big gatherings of people at stadiums and festivals. I was still doing this myself. Chapter 2: Lockdown It was the beginning of March and the weather was getting hotter and hotter. A few weeks into March we all received a letter, the message in the letter was about lockdown. So now the virus seemed to be getting even worse now. So, on the week of St Patricks day we were not in school at all then the week after that there were no sports, events were being cancelled all over the world. People were getting really worried by this stage, so we went into lockdown which I say was not fun, because you were not aloud to touch anyone apart from family you had to stay 2m apart we all stayed inside and lost our physical activity levels and contact with friends and family face to face. The main reason of lockdown was to keep our families safe, through lockdown some rules were made like only on the motorways if necessary and stay 2m apart from people who are not your family. Then there came April we would be having Easter on our own this year. We all then started to use this app called zoom which we used to facetime our friends and family it was great to keep in touch with them. Chapter 3: The Summer holidays When June came everyone was excited for the summer holidays, the government relaxed the guidelines and limitations, some people were able to go back to work, businesses were opening again, kids were going back to school in some parts of the world, others stayed inside as they received special letters for them to shield until 31st July for their safety, Airports were starting to reopen for travelling also. Being able to go outside and play with friends was great we all enjoyed it. Sometime through July summer camps started back again and we had a chance to see are friends again. On the 24th of August primary schools in the NI are going back, some 2 days a week and some the full 5 days. Listening to the news lately it seems there is a second wave starting in China and some parts of Europe, with some parts North of England also going back into lockdown. This worries me because I might not get back to school in August after all, ill not get to play with my friends, play my sports or visit family as freely as I would like. By Dylan Age 10
