Letter to Amaya Dear Amaya, I was feeling a bit grumpy because I didn't really have anything to do and although I wanted to make jelly goo and slime, my parents didn't let me. So I decided to write a nice little letter to you. Do you remember when we were being snowflakes at the school play, you always reminded me when to come up on the stage? I really miss you, Sara, Avik and all of us on the green table. The beginning of lockdown, felt very strange, because I have never been at home for such a looong time, now it is boring. I did get to try new foods such as ........ vegetables. Mummy didn't want us getting scurvy so we have drunk litres and litres of orange juice. At night times Esther is very funny and sings la la la la and I laugh so much that Mummy has to tell me off. Esther is my hero, she plays with me, when everyone is busy working or cooking or cleaning. Night times have been a little scary as I keep having nightmares, one of them is that I am at the top of a spiral staircase and I fall down with a thump down the stairs and hurt my head badly. Should I tell you something embarrassing? The toilets got blocked because Esther put lots of toilet roll down it and a plumber had to come around. We had to stay 2 metres and possibly one or two centimeters away from him and had to wear masks with holes in them. Esther refused to wear the mask and I've never worn a mask before except for that time at school when I wore a hazmat suit. The plumber coming was very exciting because no one has ever come into our house during lockdown. After he left Mummy made a mixture of Dettol, bleach, flash and other secret ingredients then whisked it all together with water and scrubbed all the places that the plumber might have touched. I've spent a lot of time in the garden running around and around the Willow tree. I was hoping to have a playhouse but because of Corona the company has not made all my parts. Corona has caused too many delays. Please could we have a playdate after lockdown? During Corona I've been popping with green fingers because I've planted juicy green tomatoes, purple flowers but beastly green bugs are destroying my plants. Have you also been banging on pots and celebrating the NHS, including my Grandma who works there? I cried because I miss watching Paw Patrol with Grandma. Every Thursday, one of our neighbours would set off fireworks, just like the sky raining cololurs, I really looked forward to them but now they have stopped. Do you want to know a secret, I suspect our noisy neighbours had a big party during lockdown and invited people over, from my window I saw an 8 year old boy riding his bike on one wheel. My Aunty is pregnant with a ginormous tummy and I will soon be the oldest out of three cousins and I'm happy it will be another girl. Amaya, the most exciting thing of all is that I have also lost two teeth and I am going to lose two more. I was worried that the tooth fairy wouldn't come because of lockdown but she did!!!! She also let me keep my first tooth but sadly I've lost all of my coins. Also, I do Esther's therapy and although she is only one, she knows all her farm animals but none of her colours. I am worried because next week she will be going back to nursery, she is the first one in the family to go back to ‘baby' work during lockdown. I am heartbroken because I missed the last term of school and when I go back to school you, Avik, Alexander, Nishca would have all left and I may have to sit by myself on our green table. Mrs. Forde and her long exciting pink hair would have also left but I will sit on the buddy bench and wait to make new friends. I think school will be different and we will have to walk with our hands stretched out and we can't play tag or cuddle each other anymore. The first time we were in a car was when we could visit Grandma, Esther was very scared as she had not been in a car for over 5 months. The planes can now fly again and they have taken Uncle Rodney away to Hong Kong for a very long time. At least Corona kept him with Grandma for a little while longer. I hope your new school is full of friends, see you at our next playdate or maybe your Birthday. Love, Sarah
