On Top of the Cage Lockdown for the majority of people has been horrible. Many have struggled from the inability of going out and very few have got a professional gym at home. Many have lost their jobs and the economy has crashed significantly. Even the National Health Service has been struggling! COVID-19 has crippled everybody. A good side, perhaps, is that many people have picked up new hobbies and found that they quite liked them. My life in lockdown has been going amazingly well. I haven't had anything going badly or wrong. I've enjoyed my life in quarantine (contrary to the majority of the population) and only wished that I could meet my friends face to face more. I've mainly been doing school work and have also been playing Minecraft a lot. My birthday also passed including the first Eid and the second is swiftly on its way. I've been playing a lot of games and have been enjoying my time recording it. I have also been uploading the videos to YouTube just as a way to spend time. I upload whenever I get the time and do like it quite a lot. Exercise, however, was something that drastically changed during the quarantine. Before my school stopped and I could no longer go outside, I used to do about 1 hour and 30 minutes of exercise, 6 days per week. After lockdown, I tried my best to match up to that with PE with Joe. Then, the first Eid arrived. Since it was lockdown, I thought that I could fast the entire day if I don't do much exercise. I was right. For the first, I had been able to do a full Ramadan fasting without eating in the middle! However, this also meant that I got into the habit of not exercising. So after it passed, I only did about 30 minutes of exercise at about 3 days a week. Nowadays, it is relatively the same thing but I do intensity training so it's much more effective. I also walk with my family and occasionally have a ride on my cycle. I've enjoyed going to the allotment and helped out a bit. We grow many vegetables and fruits in our allotment including strawberries, raspberries, swiss chard, carrots, potatoes, onions, beans, peas, and a variety of flowers and other plants. I thoroughly munch on the raspberries, due to them being my favorite fruit while leaving some relatively unripe ones for later. I also help out by keeping my 2-year-old sister out of my parents' way as she can do quite a lot of damage to the surrounding plant life. This difficult and energy-zapping method requires you to overtake her entire attention and limit her movement. After an extensive workout to your muscles, you may have finally finished her attention span for the majority of her time. She, unfortunately for you, has a second trick up her sleeve. She will ask for biscuits. If you happen to be walking to the allotment, there is nothing you can do. You'll just have to give it to her. She will then continue to sap your energy and wreak havoc in the surrounding area. If, however, you happened to have come by car, you're in luck! You can take her to the car, give her biscuits, and lock the car. You'll have to sit inside, of course, but it's fine. You just need to remove and replace the toxic waste (which happens to be her nappy) and change her clothes if they happen to be soaked. You also get to view the wildlife around, which happens to be ladybirds, worms, and bugs. Since it's the holidays, I do play games a lot more and I do still do exercise. I also do other things like chat with my friends more often and do drawing. I also am attempting to do some game design and creation using Unity (a game and assets engine) and Blender (a 3D modeling engine). I have felt that during the lockdown I have slightly worsened in my eating since I have been overeating a lot more in the space of an hour than before. I have also felt that I have felt more overworked throughout the lockdown than before due to the work sent from school and the crushing weight of the realizations of missing work and progress checks. In conclusion, I have been much better emotionally and much luckier in my ability to get outside than the general public. I have got to get my hands muddy and wet like some avid gardeners in the area around. Unlike many, I got to be ‘on top of the cage' and have been eating healthily in these unfortunate circumstances. I just hope this chaos is soon over and life goes back to normal.
